major plus features include carpet on many aisles, nice wood gondolas for merchandise in selected areas , cafe enclosed and nicely decorated, and in the middle of the store. 6 facings for car stereos, 3 speaker Bose rooms, store is well lit with raised ceilings, back rooms are 4 stories high for pallets along with electric forklifts to store and retrieve merchandise. marble type flooring and spacious aisles. found entrance and returns easy to see and move around. merchandise was easy to reach and find. having movies and cd's in the front of the store was a very nice touch. camera department is near the TV department which will boost sales of cameras. the appliance department is huge and with service counters for getting help. bathrooms had nice modern electronics installed.

major minus features found the area in DVD and vcrs cramped due to pallet displays of merchandise.  The parking lot seemed smaller than other newer fry's.  Store needs some plants to add to the awesome ambiance. Overall the store is a awesome store.

i will have pictures from Las Vegas fry's when it opens in 3rd quarter 2002.

THE HISTORY OF FRY'S ELECTRONICS, INC.

Fry's Electronics, Inc. was founded in 1985 in Sunnyvale, California in a 20,000 square foot location by the three Fry brothers, John, Randy, and Dave, and Kathryn Kolder. Fry's is a closely held private company, and all of the founders are actively involved in the daily operation of the business.

Fry's was founded as a Silicon Valley retail electronics store in order to provide a one-stop-shopping environment for the Hi-tech Professional. Fry's has been keeping Hi-Tech Professionals supplied with products representing the latest technological trends and advances in the personal computer marketplace for over 17 years. Fry's retails over 50,000 electronics items within each store. There are currently six stores in Northern California and seven stores in Southern California, four stores in Texas, two stores in Arizona, and one store in Oregon. The stores range in size from 50,000 to over 180,000 square feet.

Each store carries its own unique theme.

In Northern California:
 - Sunnyvale's marble floors and grand piano elegantly display the history of Silicon Valley with hi-tech museum pieces
 - Palo Alto brings you into Wild Bill's Wild, Wild West
 - Campbell's ancient Egypt theme has a 20-foot sphinx and King Tut tombs
 - Fremont is dedicated to the origins of electricity as featured at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago
 - San Jose pays tribute to the first astronomers, the Mayans, with a setting from Chichenitza.

In Southern California:
 - Fountain Valley hails the ruins of ancient Rome, complete with a flowing aqueduct
 - Manhattan Beach takes you to Tahiti with sculpted lava tiki heads and its own rain forest
 - Woodland Hills is a page out of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland storybook, with 10 to 15 foot high figurines of all the characters
 - Anaheim places you on the NASA flight deck for the Endeavor Space Shuttle, complete with launches on big screen TV's
 - Burbank pulls you back in time to the 1950's with a retro-space theme from Hollywood, complete with Martians and Gort, the robot
 - City of Industry where the factory setting is a salute to the Industrial Revolution complete with oversized gears and cogs

In Arizona:
 - Phoenix features a giant serpent above the entrance which is emblematic of its Aztec design.

In Texas:
 - Dallas' Lazy-K ranch is reminiscent of it's cattle ranching history
 - Houston showcases the oil industry replete with a field of gushing oil derricks
